More Pot Pourri!

OK, lets post a few more. These days I'm revisiting older files, plus taking a few new shots. The photos below represent some recent submissions to the Langley Camera Club. The window image is a Hewlett Packard 315, taken in 2002 at McLeese Lake, British Columbia. It's been brought up to date with the help of photo editing software. I thought the coins would make a dandy macro. The Rock Creek abandoned homestead and the portrait are redos of  earlier works, refreshed by photo editing. Can you see the changes I've made?

Next week I leave for Scotland. I'll be visiting Glasgow and the Hebridean island of Islay.  This is a 15 day bucket list trip, and I'll be packing my tripod and camera. It's the first time my gear has gone so far afield. Wish me luck!

Richmond Night Market

Last weekend was my first ever visit to the Richmond Night Market, a weekly event taking place during the summer months. I felt like I'd been dropped into another country. Thousands of people crowded shoulder to shoulder, sampling perfect delights from the glittering stalls. And the food - so many dishes, so little time! You really should go.

It Had To Happen

The 2010 Winter Olympics are currently being hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I did not have tickets to any event, but was able to spend a couple of days exploring various venues in our fair city. So much to see and do....

Catching Up

Sometimes we get so busy with taking pictures that it's difficult to keep up with the sorting, editing and posting. I'll be working on this, at least until the next shoot:)) These photos were taken last March in Tulameen, BC.

Osprey Lake

This beautiful lake is a short distance from Princeton, BC. I spent a long weekend there in early September, 2009. It's popular with fishermen, birds, bears, and bugs, and the morning light turns the water into a breathtaking, reflecting pool.

Campbell Valley Country Celebration

Today I was treated to some excellent musical talent at our annual Country Fair. Karen-Lee Batten and Tracy Chamberlain are local country artists. They are both very special: each has an amazing voice and performs with strong spirit and emotion. It was a privilege to see them.

Goodbye, Little Ferry

Last night I went to Fort Langley, where the Albion Ferry docked during its 50 year run on the Fraser River. About a month ago the ferry service was replaced by the Golden Ears Bridge, and the boats are now at the Maple Ridge Terminal, awaiting a new home. While the new bridge is necessary, it was sad to see them there. I will treasure the memory of foot passenger crossings with the sun in my face and the wind in my hair.

Barkerville

The back road from Likely to Barkerville is a six hour drive - OK, make that three hours with lots of stops for pictures. Summer in Barkerville, a restored Gold Rush town, is a revelation; so much to see for visitors and visiting photographers alike.
