Toscana - Firenze

Our first Tuscan destination was Florence, Tuscany's capital. Florence is known as the Cradle of the Renaissance, with very good reason. Sadly I only visited for one day, so was unable to fully explore its magnificent offerings. But what I saw made me very thirsty for more.

Toscana - San Gimigniano and the Via Francigena

Our first excursion took us to the historic hill town of San Gimigniano. We walked the iconic Via Francigena, following the centuries old route of pilgrims. The weather was perfect; the warm spring breezes complementing the breathtaking views. The town was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and the countryside was beyond words.
