Chinese Lantern Festival, Vancouver

This winter brought a very special event to our local fairgrounds - the First Annual Chinese Lantern Festival. The lights went on at dusk, and what spectacular lights they were: blazing, colorful displays of traditional and contemporary designs. The evening ended much too soon - I could have stayed for several hours. Maybe next year!!!

The Big Island

Last Spring we traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii, on a quest to experience as many Hawaiian islands as possible. Like Kauai and Maui, the Big Island offers up unique delights to visitors, and we had many adventures. Of special interest were the palms, which I photographed like the firs and pines of BC. The result was quite intriguing.
