Toscana - Casino Di Terra

Our home base was Fattoria Belvedere, an accommodation near the tiny village of Casino Di Terra. Although I do not usually promote here, this place is a wonderful destination, with easy access to the hill towns and glorious Tuscan countryside. While there I savored the surrounding landscape, and was rewarded again and again.

Toscana - Volterra

I was part of a walking tour, so explored many areas on foot. We visited the hill town of Volterra, where I wandered the lanes and alleyways for hours. It was an amazing time, discovering treasure at every turn.

Toscana - Siena

One of our stops was the lovely hillside town of Siena. The weather was quite stormy during our visit. This enhanced the breath taking views of the medieval buildings.

Toscana - Marina di Cecina

We hiked through the Pine Forest of Marina di Cecina. The trees are quite different from British Columbia pines, and produce one of Italy's great delicacies - pine nuts. They stand in dramatic contrast to the glowing light. I was honored to be among them.

Deep Cove, Cates Park

Deep Cove and Cates Park were my destinations one sunny Spring weekend. This was a pilgrimage of sorts. I grew up in North Vancouver, and visited those beaches often during my youth. Things have changed greatly since that time. Obviously. It was fun to seek out old landmarks, and to record impressions from the present. I even found some creatures hidden in driftwood. Who knew?

2 Lives, 4 Walls

My parents' White Rock home was recently sold. It's been a turning point in so many ways. The new owners plan to tear the house down and rebuild. When it's gone, over 30 years of history will disappear, both of the structure itself and the lives of the people who lived there. The house was never documented while my parents were in residence, so I decided to visit with my camera before it was too late.

City Center Library, Surrey, BC

One fine evening I traveled to the Surrey City Library Complex, a cluster of municipal buildings that is arguably the jewel in Surrey's architectural crown. I arrived at dusk, as the angles and reflections deepened in the evening light. So much to explore and photograph. As usual the time passed far too quickly.
