A Walk in the Park

Today I visited the pond at Crescent Park, a perfect gem alive with Nature on a sunny Thursday. I saw serene reflections, sleepy turtles and rainbow dragonflies. The breeze was a symphony of bird calls, splashing fish and booming bullfrogs. Here are a few images from the day:

Moving Right Along

Last month the City of Surrey hosted the Cloverdale Rodeo. I had a display in the Art Zone, and did a bit of touring during the four day fair. This included the midway, plus a small adventure into the far reaches of Whalley, searching for scrap yards and razor wire.

High Water

We celebrated the start of camping season with a trip to Cultus Lake. Hard to believe we've been here thirty years without a visit to the Provincial Park. The lake was full of spring rain, and the water was high both on shore and off.

The Desert in Winter

Last February I visited the Osoyoos area, staying a short distance up the road on a working cattle ranch. The vistas changed with every mile, from bleak desert orchards to snowy grasslands awaiting spring thaw. All were so captivating it was hard to know where to look.

Once Upon a Time

Not long ago, I painted and drew as if possessed. My favorite subjects were people, as you can see. This is quite different from what I do now, where my favorite subject is whatever catches the eye. The roads to self expression are many and varied indeed.

Bedazzled

I spent a few hours at the Stave Falls Powerhouse, just outside Mission, BC. It's a former Hydroelectric Power Station, currently enjoying new life as a magical museum. I had to drag myself away, and will definitely be going back.

Something Completely Different

Last week I took my new camera out for its inaugural run. My destination was a New Westminster rail yard, full of old trains, broken tracks, and a riot of colorful inspiration. The sky was gray and the place was spooky, but the graffiti was wonderful.
